the male of our film playing the role of the Prince has not answered any calls or texts despite knowing that our deadline was this week and we have still not been able to get in contact, a member of our group dropped out of school meaning that we had more work to do, on top of this, the member that dropped out had external issues from school that prevented her from being able to attend school for the past 8 months regularly which meant that myself and Anneke had more work to do that other as we were the ones in class together and our other member only had himself. Group decisions were not made by the entire group as there was hardly any opportunities to meet as a whole group therefore it became more practical for Anneke and myself to make them. Mabel, the student who dropped out of school also had an urgent circumstance which resulted in her hospitalised which meant that filming was not possible as her brother was the Prince in our film. Additionally, snow days prevented from travelling to film when we were scheduled to. Each of these issues have been completely out of our hands thus our media teacher has kindly given us many extensions on work which have still not been productive as another circumstance has arrived preventing us from filming yet again.

Today anneke and myself decided that in order to finish our film we would need to change the story line completely to make sense of the shots with Walter in them. Our final decision was to make my character, the main witch, originally a friend of the Princess who had strong feelings for her, jealousy overcomes when the Princess finds her Prince (Walter) and the witch becomes evil therefore resorting to another dimension where evil is the core of the world. She kidnaps the Princess to take her to this dimension and force her into leaving her Prince and being with her instead, the Prince finds her, saves her and The Princess is forced to kill the witch who she has sent her entire life being friends with, depression strikes.

Due to this drastic change, the script for the voice over must be edited and a name for the witch must be made. We have decided Trixy, as it’s meaning is “she makes me happy”.

We decided we would have to re-shoot these shots which would have been very time consuming as it took around 3 hours to film the original. Not only that, but we would have to make the play-do dog again which took a further 1 hour. Thankfully, a fellow student offered us help and used his own editing software to cut the shot to the size we needed. We used the effect of ‘oldest’ for this to make the movement of the dog more rigid and blur out continuity errors such as movement of the paper. This worked superbly and I am very pleased with the outcome.

The next problem we had was the amount of footage, we soon realised that we would need to film a few more shots as ther was only 3 different locations used and the narrative was not clear enough to an unknowing audience. However, we carried on editing to the best of our ability and used a plain blue screen saying ‘footage to capture’ in the part where we felt we needed more shots. This meant that when we showed an audience our first draft they understood there was more footage to capture therefore their feedback was not about the narrative but more about the shots/angles etc which is what we wanted.

Overall, our audience felt the trailer was very good, they found the music suited extremely well and gave the right effect to the trailer. However, they felt that the text used saying “sometimes fairytales are not so perfect” needed to be changed and made smaller, which we have now corrected.

We are due to film tomorrow, Friday 19th March from 2pm untill 5 to get the remaining shots and are then going to finish the editing on Monday after school to the final cut.

In order to decide what type of witches we wanted to give the illusion of, I practised make-up techniques on myself. We didn’t want the standard green faced wart nosed witches that are stereotypical of fairytales so instead we went for a more banshee typed look as you can see from the photo above.

It took over an hour to master which allows us to be prepared for the actual shooting day just how long its going to take to get ready and made up. So now we know to start a couple hours before our shooting schedule in order to get the aquired look.

The male make-up will be much simpler to do with a darker toned foundation for a smoother more handsome look and brown pencil liner to define the masculine lines of the males face such as cheek bones eyebrows and stubble.

as for costumes, we have a pink prom dress for the princess to wear which shows her innocence and beaut, the male will be in a suit typed outfit with sneakers to make it more modern and the witches in capes, however the main witch will have an alternative colour to show emphasis on her power.

This will allow us to determine who has the appropriate acting techniques essential to play the role of the Prince in our trailer.

I haven’t been completely honest with you. I never wanted you to find out but I guess this the only way you will ever completely understand. You just have to listen to me.

My past wasn’t perfect. I made a lot of mistakes and became in debt with the wrong people. These people aren’t normal, they have powers, they are evil and could kill anyone and anything in a second. I promised myself I would do anything to get out of their debt.

But then I met you. I fell in love with you, and I don’t regret a second of it. You are everything to me now and I don’t know how I could ever live without you. But the reason I found you, I don’t think you could ever forgive me. I wont ever be able to forgive myself. The only way for me to get my freedom was to do a task that they set me. An awful task. I rejected at first, but they tortured me until I was skin and bone, so I gave in. Please try not to hate me Ianthe. If I’d have known how I feel about you back then this would never have happened. I…I came here, to kill you.
